A Quick Update

I’ve had a bunch of stuff going on lately. Last night, I went to this place called Nora’s restaurant down on 21st and Florida Avenue. If you happen to check it out, I recommend the salmon. A bit off topic, but as I am typing this, I am watching So You Think You Can Dance. The last performance of the night was definitely the best. If you pull off an awesome African dance, you get my vote.

Besides hangin’ at home healing up, I recently got out to see Michael Jackson’s This Is It. I loved it because you get to see Michael in his element. He was so anal and such a perfectionist about everything and it definitely shows in his music.

Speaking of good music, Wale’s new album, Attention Deficit, came out today. Wale is a local DC hip-hop artist and I’m a huge fan. If you haven’t heard his music, check him out.

I also want to take a minute to mention Rememberance Day. Tomorrow is a day that gives us a chance to honor the sacrifices made by the men and women in the armed forces. So I just wanted to let them and their families know that I would be thinking about them. If you get a chance, take a moment out of your day and honor these people.

And finally, I gotta talk a little hockey. Tomorrow evening we play the New York Islanders, which I’m excited about. Since I didn’t play the last game, I can’t wait to get back on the ice in front of our fans. Tomorrow will be challenging because the Islanders are a fast fore-checking team. Teams like them make it hard for defenseman to make plays so the quicker we get back and the easier we play, the better off we will be.

My Blog

mike-greenWhat’s up everyone? The season has started and everyone is excited to be playing hockey games again that mean something.

We have not had any games on Sunday yet, so that means I have been able to go to both Washington Redskins home games this year. I usually head over to FedEx Field with Ovi and Backie and we make sure to support the team. Their quarterback Jason Capmbell is a good guy and has been to a few Caps game since he has been in D.C., so I sport his No. 17 jersey. Mike Sellars, Chris Cooley and Shaun Suisham have also been to Verizon Center to watch us play, so we are pretty close with those guys as well.

Before the Redskins played Tampa Bay, they let us down on the field and we kicked some field goals. I hit one out of two, but the kick I missed hit the upright. If Suisham ever can’t perform, I am their guy. I am always amazed at how big FedEx Field is and what a rush it must be to play in front of 80,000 people. It would be pretty sick to play a hockey game in front of that many people.

After the game, I interviewed some of the players with my own camera. I will post some of the videos so you can see my interviewing technique. However, I have a feeling I should leave that to the pros like Joe Beninati and the Comcast gang. I am looking forward to going to more games this year.

I was also at FedEx Field for the recent U2 concert there and it was amazing. It was a sensory overload and I highly recommend the show. One more note on music, if you have not downloaded Pandora Radio yet, you need to do it soon. You pick the music you want to listen to and it creates playlists for you. I just heard about a few days ago and love it.

My Blog

mike-green

Hi fans,

I have been back in D.C. for about 10 days now and am ready for the season. I trained really hard in the off-season and am ready for a great year. We have big goals as a team this year, but everyone believes we can achieve them and is ready to start playing again.

I love being back home in Calgary, but coming back to D.C. reminds me how neat this city is. There is always something going on it has been a crazy 10 days so far. As you know, MTV was at the condo to shoot my crib. I have also been to a Nats game and did an appearance at PNC Bank downtown. Of course I went to The Source for a good meal as well. That is one of my favorite spots and you have to check it out for sure. The team had media day last week, which was a long and fun day. We signed a ton of jerseys and sticks, filled out some questionnaires, answered a lot of questions from the media and posed for different Comcast video shoots. I was back at Kettler last night for the team’s game-opening video shoot. I was there with Ovi, Backie and Sasha for about two hours. I hope it comes out well and they make us look good!

Our schedule has been just as busy on the ice. We had physicals earlier this week and then started camp. The speed has been really good and it has been competitive. All the boys are really getting after it. You should come out and watch us this week. There was a scrimmage yesterday, one today and one tomorrow as well. Special props to anyone that brings a GreenLife52 sign. We play at Buffalo on Thursday, but I’m not sure if I’m going on that trip or not. We find out later this week who’s playing in that game.

That’s it for now. I have to go get ready for SneakerBall tonight. A bunch of guys are going and I have a special pair of kicks to wear.

One last thing, don’t forget to follow me on Twitter, @GreenLife52. I’m still getting used to the whole Tweet thing, but I’m liking it so far.

Weekly Blog

mike-greenToday I did MTV cribs! MTV was here since 9 in morning to 7 at night filming. It was a good experience, because my boys were down for the shoot. I also got some new tattoos yesterday during the shoot by an artist named Devin from Liquid Courage in Omaha Nebraska, he did a amazing job! Im excited to see how the cribs shoot turns out once it airs. It’s really good to be back in DC now,  Im getting that itch to get back on the ice really bad, as Im sure the rest of the boys are too, cant wait. Im going to go skate at the kettler tomorrow with the guys from team to get the feel back before camp starts, hope to see some of you there. Im also excited to see how many people have been checking out the site, and thanks for all the fan mail.  Let me know what you think of the site so far and if it needs anything.
